I am a college student, and live on campus. I have a microwave and mini fridge in my dorm with me. The Kinden electric kettle is a great addition to have. This kettle allows me to quickly boil some water for tea or even cook hotdogs. When you receive the product, it comes packed well and easy to unbox. The product has two main parts: the kettle and the heating pad. Both are made from glass.
The dock has touch screen controls. It has warming feature that allows you to choose from 40, 70, 80, and 90 degrees Celsius. This is a disappointment for me, personally. I am from the US, which uses Fahrenheit as its basic temperature measurements, but it is not problem. I looked up the temps on Google. Here are the Celsius to Fahrenheit if you are curious: 40C = 104F, 70C = 158F, 80C = 176F, 90C = 194F. To begin boiling, you press the 100C (212F) / Off button.
The pot is made of glass, but has a plastic on the outside. The kettle feels like quality material. It has multiple filling lines: .5 litters (minimum), 1L, 1.5L, and 1.7L (maximum). The top has a metal mesh, so when you pour out the water, you are safe from anything falling into your cup or bowl.
I was impressed by how fast it began to boil. The description says about 7 minutes. I was skeptical about that, but turned out that the water began to boil at 6 minutes! While the water heats up, you can touch the glass: It is warm, but not hot. However, I would not let a child feel because he or she may get burned.
When you turn the kettle on, it will light up blue. After it boils for a couple of minutes, the product will automatically turn off and beep three times, letting you know it has warmed to 212F. This an excellent feature. Sometimes I get busy and forget, so I will not have to worry about it boiling completely out and staying hot.
